Hannah & Phil

What was your ring designing experience like?

When I started looking for a ring I really didn’t know where to start. I went to a couple of places staffed by ladies with big hair and men with shiny teeth trying to sell me rings of unknown origin and quality. Defeated, I was speaking to a friend who had recently got engaged and he suggested speaking to Chelsea. The whole process was a revelation.

From my first conversation with Chelsea it became clear that she is passionate about what she does and has an excellent understanding of the technicalities of ring design. Handy really as I was completely clueless.

She stepped me through the basics and managed to interpret my vague, nonsensical ideas into some excellent concepts. She was incredibly patient with me and spent a long time making small changes to the design before we moved into diamond selection. This was my favourite part; looking at diamonds under a microscope and deciding which stone would work best.

Once we had a design and stone agreed, the manufacturing process was quick and Chelsea kept me up to date on progress all the way through. The final result was excellent and Hannah was delighted with it.

I loved the process so much that we went back for our wedding bands and designed something to complement the engagement ring.

Why did you choose Honey Designs to design your ring?

I loved the ability to get something that was unique. I always liked that idea, but didn’t think I had the skills (or resources) to actually do it.

What surprised you the most?

I was able to design something completely bespoke, exactly as I wanted, to a higher quality than something for a comparable price from a large store. It’s amazing what you can do when you cut back overheads (that hair and those teeth cost money).

What do you love most about your ring?

We managed to incorporate some old diamonds from Hannah’s parent’s original engagement ring into the design. It’s a little touch which makes the ring even more special.

How did you & your significant other meet?

I’d like to say something exciting. But… it was in a bar (and not even a good one).

Where was your first date?

Christmas shopping for Hannah’s family.

Where’s your favorite hidden gem in Cincinnati?

Eli’s on a spring day with a six pack from one of the local breweries.
